Ranthambore the land of the Royal Bengal Tigers

 The Aravalli Hills are a long chain of low mountains that were once home to many wildlife and forests. Although arid deciduous forests are still abundant, they have been exposed to tremendous denudation due to the increasing population of humans and animals creating unsustainable biotic pressures.

There are few pockets of dense jungle left and its ability to house large cats, and Ranthambore is one of those jungles. It is one of the most popular tiger reserves and a conservation unit. While the big cats lost almost all of their ground at the beginning of this century, they were eventually rescued by Project Tiger, an initiative of the Indian government.

Today around fifty Bengal tigers and many other beautiful mammals, reptiles and birds live in the park. The destination is a center of biodiversity and is the subject of much study and research by the scientific community around the world.

Before independence, Ranthambore was a game reserve owned by the Maharajas of Jaipur. The city is now the capital of Rajasthan and the main line to reach this reserve by road. The royals are now leaving their visitors to leave a hunting lodge that has been converted into a high-end hotel.

The park is subject to regulated tourism. Most of the tourists are from New Delhi, especially foreigners landing at the international airport. A large number of tourists travel to this reserve on a tour package called Golden Triangle Tours, which is organized by tour operators in New Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. Ranthambore is an extension, but more popular for bird and wildlife viewing. Even the majestic luxury tourist trains stop here for a toast and the traveler to experience Indian wildlife.

Filmmakers find the destination and its biodiversity more attractive for their filming, which is why a large number of documentaries were shot here. The greatest attraction are the tigers, who have mastered the art of hunting in the water. They meet in a twocade in the middle of the tall grass on the edge of the lakes and pounce on the unsuspecting deer that feed on aquatic plants.
